Thunder and lightning woke me up on the morning of Raubé and Lizanne’s wedding day. I sighed. But not because of the weather. No, because of what my hair was going to look like the entire day. Don’t judge. I do have my priorities straight. But wouldn’t it be nice to look fresh as a daisy with nice hair instead of frizzy locks and noisy Crocs squeaking your whereabouts to everybody? It sure would. But then again, the rain made this wedding different. The leaves were greener. And there was this energy as people scurried about, smiles wide and hearts pounding as they ducked under a roof.
And Lizanne’s smile. Irrespective of the weather, I had never seen a bride looking happier than Lizanne on her wedding day. Her smile said that she was getting married to the man of her dreams! Raubé is a quiet guy. This day however, the way in which he looked at Lizanne could just as well have shouted to the world that he is the happiest man on earth :)
Die Akker is kind of magical. It’s close to Pretoria and looks like a forrest in some places and in others like Animal Farm with horses, cats and chickens waiting for their photo opportunity. Simoné and I traipsed around every nook and cranny to find spots that were rain-proof. But luckily for us, it cleared up just as the guests started to arrive and we could finally put away the umbrellas.
I had the pleasure of also doing R + L’s engagement session. If you’d like to have a look, you can view it here. It’s raining in Cape Town today, making it a very fitting day to blog this wedding. But also because today marks their 1 month anniversary!
