To me, there are two kinds of people. Those who love to go the sea during holidays and those who love to go the bushveld. The latter takes every chance they get to hitch the trailer, pack the briquettes and Peaceful Sleep and head to where there is little to nothing around you for kilometres on end. Just so you know, I hitch my horse to bush people camp :)
Jon and Christie are bush people.
Spending a weekend at Karongwe Private Game Reserve with my sister (read ‘extreme bush person’), we were thrilled. Every time we caught a glimpse of each other on the game drive there were these massive smiles on our faces. She agrees after this wedding, that I seriously have the best job in the world.
Back when Christie and Jon first started emailing me, they were under the impression that I was still based in Mpumalanga. Thank goodness for Google :) We worked out a plan to get me to their awesome wedding filled with spots and stripes and relaxed guests.
When I think of my own ‘non-existant’ wedding, this is what I imagine. A game lodge whose staff is amazing and caters to your every whim. Loads and loads of game drive vehicles carting your guests off to a secret spot hidden deep in the bush where Game Rangers stand watch in the riverbed. One of a kind sunsets that you only get when you are in the bush.
The most amazing part for me was right after the couple shoot when all the guests were taken on their game drive bumble, my sister and I got to jump in with Christie + Jon and we were off for an hour long game drive before the reception. Where will I ever get this chance again? Like I said, this wedding was just that amazing. From the bush dinner the night before right until the party the following night.
You guys are so special and I hope you will always look at these photos with fond memories. Thank you for giving us this amazing opportunity. xx
