I’m a traditional girl myself and I love how Roeleen told me from the start of their wedding planning that they were both taking turns giving in to the other’s whims and requests like George’s wish to get married in a church and Roeleen’s desire to have dinner at long tables that reminds one of a feast. They describe themselves as old-school, sharing a love for breakfast, mountains and trees.
And how appropriate as they live in a town where forests and trees are plentiful. I recently traveled to Piet Retief myself for a wedding and I have to admit that I now have a fond place for it.
Needless to say, I was super excited when she asked me to be their photographer last year. I knew this wedding was bound to be a highlight for me as I was lucky enough to hear of all of their big plans and ideas a few months before the big day. And it turned out even better than I had imagined.
I am such a sucker for soft dreamy neutrals and their decor was right up my alley. Her dress was just too pretty with it’s lace sleeves and open back. A wedding whose style will certainly withstand the test of time!
