Lu-zanne and I listened to our mixed CD containing 50′s hits while driving to Herold’s Bay. It was a sunny, relaxed Friday and for the first time this season I wasn’t nervous about a wedding. I’m a pretty anxious person by nature, but the moment I met Michelle & Jacques for a coffee the week before at Eden on the Bay, I knew they were different. They are so comfortable with each other with no hangups or feeling the need to conform to other’s expectations. When I asked them about their wedding cake they laughed and said they’ll most likely bake a small one the night before!
And any couple that tells me they are doing a first look without me having to convince them of this awesome concept get’s a gold star in my book!
Their day turned out to be rather overcast and Michelle’s mom quickly went to the shops to buy her eldest daughter a shawl. This was a DIY wedding and for weeks before the wedding Michelle had sown the lace around her veil by herself in front of the tv. Their wedding car was supplied by Jacques’ uncle and was the coolest car I’ve ever seen.
This was my first visit to Herold’s Bay and I fell in love with their venue – Down to Earth Restaurant. It has the most amazing view! And being a Twilight fan, the forest surrounding us made me believe something might live inside there.. yes I’m weird :)
I enjoyed every second of photographing this wedding and I wish every wedding couple could be this relaxed and comfortable on their wedding day! I am really one of the luckiest people on earth to get to call this my job!
